Late night snacking killing my diet?

Question: Late night snacking killing my diet?

So from the morning up to around 8 or 9, i can control myself from snacking very easily, but whenever it's around the time everyone else sleeps and i can't, i start pondering and looking for something eat, and end up making the worst health choices which end up ruining my diet.. i can't block junk food from my house, because i'm the only one dieting.. any ideas on how i can raise my 'self- control' or any ideas why this is happening at all?... and why only at night?

Drink lots of water it will fill you up, and try eating fruits or buy the healthy snack bars (oatbars, fruitbars etc).

I was the same for a while.... but i figured out some substitutes!!! it also depends on how late u r eating ur food! because after 7 oclock everything u eat turns to fat! but the substitutes include yogurt rice cakes 100 calorie packs or even gum! gum will get that taste your mouth wants and surprsingly will satisfy your hunger! hopw this helped!

Ah!! i crave snacking ate night too. i am a emotional eater, i eat when im bored,mad,depressed(chocolate helps that muahahaaaaaaa), sad, or just plain blahhh....... and i cant get rid of junk food cause my mom loves it and none of my family is fat like i seem to be so they dont care, (seriously, my sister is sooo skinny and she eats bunches of junk, why does she look sooo much thinner than me? not fair= |) anyways, try chewing ice, it helps, or get sugar free stuff, i eat frozen fruit and yogurt..or nuts..it taste good but isnt too bad..as candy..and stuff... i keep a food diary and write down every calorie i put in my mouth..it deffinately keeps me in control..i feel guilty and so that keeps me from eating a huge bowl of ice cream or somethingg.... = } Don't be too hard on yourself, everyone has problems like yours, food is just too good, and when your having a bad day........... Anyways, Just try to get low calorie sweets or something! Good Luck!

I do the same thing, but I restrict my caloric intake all day which reduced my energy....then at a certain time at night I eat my whole days calories....it sucks...but i know how you feel

Because no one can see you. Do you tell them that you cheat at night when they are sleeping or do you let them think you don't cheat at all? this is either psychological or you are not getting enough calories and your body is telling you that it needs more. How many calories are you eating daily and what percentages of carbs, protein and fat is in your diet? When our bodies crave calories, our mind controls the outcome of what we eat. Your body can crave certain foods, it just craves calories, your mind likes certain foods and that's why you eat crappy food. Buy healthy snacks for you to eat at night. Cottage Cheese, tuna in water with some lettuce., deli turkey and green veggie. Keep the carbs to a minimum, no rice cakes, fruit yogurt, fruit, these things will not be used they will store as fat. btw...There's not a switch in your body that tells everything after 7 pm to go to fat cells. What a crock!

Add fruit to your diet. Fruit should be eaten on an empty stomach or before meals! If you eat fruit like that, it will play a major role to detoxify your system, supplying you with a great deal of energy for weight loss and other life activities. Good Luck!
