Question: Help i need a good diet once and for all,?

The meal thing doesnt work i beleive. I am joining a gym within a month or two but want to loose weight by dieting first, , can im substitue meals with protein shakes, , and est fruits and vegys.. and loose weight, , i like to snack and eat late, , , even if its nutritious, im interested in a shake to sub meals with for a bit, , any thoughts or recommendations? thanks
